Excellent introduction to using Audacity as a vocal recording tool. I use Reason and GarageBand on a Mac, but I also collaborate with friends who do not have Macs or the money/experience to set up a more advanced home recording studio. I think this tutorial will give them a better idea of how to create .aiff or .wav files that can then be flown back into a mix in GarageBand or Logic. And Audacity and LAME are free so the price is right.

Wrong Sebby, depending on your hardware and which settings you have. You should use Asio drivers and lower your bit rate so that there is less latency. I've got a home studio and I've with all this before. Be careful not to lower it too much because it can cause pop/clicks in your recordings.

The delay is called latency, and every microphone/sound card pretty much has to deal with it. Just zoom in and use the time-shift tool to correct it.

yo thanks for the tutorial man, appreciate it. I always wondered why audacity won't play the beat but i guess i was just too lazy to check the settings. btw you should tell some of the members to check out reason cuz it's really good.
