Build a $10 Microphone Pop Screen

Jake Ludington’s MediaBlab shows you how to make your own microphone pop screen for $9.66. These generally go for around $30 if you were to buy one. This is an excellent project to try for your home studio especially if you are a vocalist. It helps get rid of the spiking “s”, “pfts”, and “ch” sounds that can ruin a track.
One of the bigger hassles in editing voice audio tracks is cleaning up loud pops in the recording where plosive ‘p’ and ‘b’ sounds cause a burst of volume. These are easily avoided by placing a screen between the person speaking or singing and the microphone.
