Gotta be Dre, just for producing the Chronic and Doggystyle one after the other.
DJ Premier for beats like DWYCK, Above the Clouds, Work, Skills,
Pete Rock just for They reminise over you (theres loads more sick beats hes made, dont need to list them)
Lil John (as well as all the new school crunk dudes) are all gay as hell. thats not hip hop.
I liked timbaland a few years ago when he started making all missy's beats but now hes just the newest celebrity producer. No doubt hes got skills but he churns em out every 10 mins like clockwork. Like he spends no time over his beats.
DJ Shadow
I really like the Bass brothers (mark and jeff). pretty unknown but they made loads of eminems early tracks (just dont give a fuck, im shady, cum on everybody etc)
Marley Marl, just cos he pioneered sampling and make some sick old school tracks for big daddy kane etc

wait wait you guys are forgetting JR Rotem. The guy puts out amazing beats. Some of the best are jay, kanye, timbaland, dre, Scott scorch, luny toons for reggaeton (basically the non american neptunes) JR and the neptunes.

All these producers are not HIP-HOP, they're all rap :S.
How come no one has showed love to real talent??
Premier, Marley marl, large professor, RZA, Pete rock, J-Dilla, Havoc, Prince paul, Diamond D.. ( also shout outs to, 9th wonder, alchemist, bomb squad, heat makerz, kid capri, rick rubin, clark kent, Da beatminerz )
I could keep this list going.
To even put Lil john or Kayne west in top producers list is appalling.. absolutely appalling.
You kids these days, ^^
