Reason, Cubase, Logic. Any of those can make pro sounding beats. I think the dr rex loop player in reason is straight up genious. use recycle to chop up anything into slices and it gets it in tempo for you.
Dont think Dre uses software, maybe pro tools to track his shit, but thats not that good for sequencing your own beats. I heard dre doesn't even sample straight from other tracks, he learns the shit himself and plays it in, or gets a session musician to play it.

Truth is anything can make good music. A fuckin' soda-can can make good music. It's not about the machine, it's about the man behind it. _________________ Gear: HP Pavilion dv6000, Akai MPC1000, M-Audio Audiophile, M-Audio Trigger Finger, M-Audio KeyRig 49, FL Studio 8.

one of the biggest problems i have with garageband is its exporting ability. It's so hard to get it to MP3 because it exports in these weird mac formats.
Getting your beats to be "loud" on garageband is also hard. and the worst part is that it doesn't let you import sounds!! so stupid!
But it's definitely a great learning tool for beginners.
if your looking to upgrade try apples logic. Great with begginers and it also is used by the pros. Its pricey for pro but there is express foe much cheaper. _________________ ~ITAMA~

What are you talking about man ?
Of course he uses software... I think he uses protools. There is even a picture of him in the studio where he has got "Trilogy" running on his PC! _________________ Check out my Myspace Page

I use FL Studio 8. When I have enough money, I'm thinking of investing in a drum machine, a synthesiser and mixer.

I use FL Studio 8 Demo. When I'll be more advanced I'll buy FL Studio and some hardware equipment.
Right now I don't have much time.
