I'm thinking of buying a Shure SM57 microphone and connecting it to my laptop to do some recording. So,I'm not quite sure if my weak sound card will effect the quality of the recording (will the sound of the recording be any worse than what i've heard SM57 sounds like). And I also don't know if the recording would be loud because of the sound card (all my previous recordings with cheap mics were not loud). I'm using a Toshiba Satellite Pro U300 (everything seems good except the sound card) so I was thinking of getting a E-MU 0202 USB sound card fjust because of the preamp. Could you give me some advice on this? _________________
just to start a shure sm57 is not a mic to record vocal. that mic works much better recording instruments like snares and cymbals or acustic guitar amps. for vocals yuou are going to need a condenser mic. shure got a couple of them but the cheapest and most reliable one is the rode nt1-a. of course you are going to need a sound card with xlr inputs to connect this type of mic to the computer. or you can get the m-audio usb condenser mic it's your choice. i got an m-box2 a rode nt1-a and it works fine for what i do. _________________ Borinken Finest Prod.
