Well, I'm broke as fuck, I can't afford an MPC or protools right now.
I have been using Fruity Loops and Adobe Audition (I don't need adobe anymore since FL has its own chopping program now)
I just ordered an Axiom 25 cause it was cheap to start out with. I don't if you have money to buy an MPC go for it but don't be one of those people that buys an expensive piece of equipment and gives up in a month cause its too hard. I would work you way up, Protools is really the industry standard. I'f you really want tips on VST's and sample searching then contact me on youtube.
youtube . com / user / invectrum
Check the beats. all from FL.

yo, what the hell are you talking about? ableton is far away from the industry standard.
pro tools and logic pro are the industry standards; pro tools more so than logic. you can definitely start out with ableton and audacity, but at some point, you will want to buy pro tools and an MPC.

<a href="http://kansieo.com/">Caffeinated Content</a>

download "ableton live" off a torrent.

learn this program it is basically the industry standard for music production.

learn about samplers and synthesizers

learn about "vst"s (these are the instruments that you put into ableton)

you do not need hardware at the beginning. once you have ableton you can install vst instruments and begin. download "sample packs" for beats and vocals.

you also need a program to cut up samples. an easy one (and free) to begin with is Audacity. download jazz and other types of music. cut these up and play with them in ableton

good luck with it. it takes a while to get into but once you have a program down and start to develop a style you can begin to invest in hardware and build up a sample collection.
